MHBP Standard Option

Standard Option is a highly preferred plan among federal employees. It’s got everything you need and more:

Low out-of-pocket costs—with low PPO copayments you can better predict your health care expenses:

  • NEW! $10 copayment per visit for Convenient Care Centers (i.e., clinics in drugstores)
  • $10 copayment for an annual physical exam for adults age 18 and over
  • $20 adult office visit copayment ($10 for dependent children under age 22) 
  • $10 copayment for generic medications from participating pharmacies and competitive copayments for brand name prescription drugs with NO DEDUCTIBLE 
  • $15 copayment for PPO chiropractic visits (up to a $2,500 maximum including alternative and rehabilitative therapies )

100% coverage for many routine services:

  • 100% coverage for an annual adult routine physical exam (after a low office visit copayment) 
  • 100% benefit for covered wellness screenings such as mammograms, cholesterol tests and more 
  • 100% benefit for well-child care visits 
  • 100% complete maternity care—including inpatient hospital room and board, pre and postnatal care and anesthesia

AND…no deductible applies to any of these services!

Postal rates apply to career Postal Service employees. Most employees should refer to the FEHB Guide for United States Postal Service Employees, RI 70-2. Different postal rates apply and a special FEHB guide is published for Postal Service Inspectors and Office of Inspector General (OIG) employees (see RI 70-2IN).


* Postal rates do not apply to non-career postal employees, postal retirees, or associate members of any postal employee organization who are not career postal employees. Refer to the applicable FEHB Guide.
